K-beauty Fake Alert

K-beauty Fake Alert

Korean skincare products have seen a significant rise in popularity and here now in Australia you can find K-beauty products (mainly skincare) in big retail stores such as Sephora, and also pharmacies and even department stores – Wow Isn’t it amazing?🤩 It definitely fuelled up and the ‘Glass Skin Look’ trend has driven consumers to seek out more K-beauty products.

However I can spot on some old stocks (which means the product/brand has been renewed for a long time yet still in old packaging) and prices are vary depends on store types – must admit online retailers are selling cheaper than physical stores – building fees, store markups, import regulations etc, can contribute to price increases.

Buying a great price isn’t the best choice sometimes – be extra cautious if the seller’s price is significantly lower than what other reputable retailers are selling the same product for.

In this post, I’d like to show what’s the newest and how to distinguish “the counterfeit” in popular K-Beauty brands as they are often targeted by counterfeiters.

⚠️Packaging Renew

Packaging renews are okay than other issues as their formula is the same so you can experience their original quality of product, however still concerning where these are from??

  1. Anua
The fonts are more clear, black and accentuated on number (ingredients content)
old version

renewal version

  1. Cell Fusion C
All sunscreens – laser sun, toning sun and aquatica sun packaging design have been changed like this, pastely and pixelated cube pattern)

  1. Some By Mi
The font is bolder and there is less gap between the letters.

⚠️Fake Alert

One of the first signs of fake Korean products is a discrepancy in the packaging. You can easily catch different fonts, missing store information on the packaging or can compare with product barcode checks.

But have you seen these sophisticated fake designs😖? Let’s have a good look – these incidents are happening even in Korea, found and warned by brand official stores (made in China and sold in Korea through unauthorized online stores).

  1. Mixsoon

check the store/seller information, this section may not present on counterfeit goods

  1. Medicube
Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum
Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask

  1. d’Alba

👉d’Alba piedmont company name has been changed ‘(주)비모뉴먼트’ to ‘달바글로벌’ (d’Alba Global) so easy to spot on counterfeits.

👉d’Alba Global is going to provide an application that can scan product barcodes and check their authenticity against a database. Mainly applied on d’Alba sunscreens and new sealing stickers will be put on like this below.

👉 Add on recent news
d’Alba Vita-Toning collections are not only package renewed but their formula upgraded with vitamin content recently so here is the latest version.

⚠️BL change

Rejuran as well known as PDRN, skin booster cosmetic brand has recently upgraded its brand logo:
REJURAN to REJURAN Healer

And this is the packaging comparison – as you can see the packaging (front /back) totally changed so you can check which is the latest version and genuine product.

Hopefully this is helpful to identify what is authentic and the latest version of Korean beauty products, and any questions if you have please let me know.

Thanks for reading.
